Jane Trapman is an alumna of the Master Imagineering. Why did she choose for this master’s programme? And why did she switch from the non-profit industry to the private sector? Jane made some movements. Literally. She moved all the way to Toronto, Canada, after graduation.

Expertise

Lecturer Nicoline de Heus interviewed Jane about her choices. She realised during her studies that for her, to be able to work with change in the pace that she wanted, she would have to move to the private sector.

Not easy
In Canada, she became an entrepreneur, developing a business that combined her expertise in media and the narrative approach to create value for companies. But it wasn’t easy. Not only she faces a new business culture, but she also had no network to start with. She needed to adapt her business language to communicate what she could bring to company owners and reposition her own enterprise.

Helping companies
A few years in, she now has developed a roadmap for companies to help them find their own brand identity, using storytelling and co-creation. Moreover, she has been investing in filmmaking and acting in movies that have meaning.
